Patna
Patna is the Capital of Bihar and replete with several not-to-be-missed tourist attractions. Shershah Masjid, built in 1545 by Sher Shah Suri, an Afghan chieftain, is the oldest mosque in India and unique piece of architecture in Patna. Kumhrar is an ancient garden that provides a key to the great Mauryan Empire and its capital, Pataliputra. One can still see some remnants - a large pillared assembly hall, a Buddhist monastery, parts of Anand Bihar, and some clay figures at the site.
The Har Mandir Temple, also referred to as Patna Sahib, is the second most important pilgrimage of the Sikhs next only to the Golden Temple of Amritsar. The Gurudwara is built with immaculate white marble and is an aesthetic piece of art. Miss not to see the Golghar which is a unique single dome structure and an architectural marvel. Sanjay Gandhi Zoological Park is a great favorite with the local residents and a prized tourist attraction. It is also home to a picturesque collection of flora and fauna and a tempting golf course. You must not fail to drive on Gandhi Sethu, Asia's longest roadway bridge – the pride of Patna.
Nalanda
Nalanda is a great tourist destination in Bihar. The Nalanda University was one of the greatest centers of Buddhist learning in ancient times and erudite scholars from far-flung corners came here. The architectural remains of Nalanda, the world’s oldest university, indicate to us that the university was a stately structure with lofty walls and a massive gate. It had eight separate compounds and ten temples with many meditation halls and classrooms. There were also many scenic lakes and parks. The commodious library was a nine storied building and the University attracted pupils and scholars from Korea, Japan, China, Tibet, Indonesia, Persia and Turkey. Though the Buddha visited Nalanda several times during his lifetime, this famous center of Buddhist learning shot to fame much later, during 5th-12th centuries. The other important attractions of Nalanda are the Hiuen Tsang Memorial Hall, the Surya Mandir, the Nalanda museum, and the Nav Nalanda Vihar. The present day ruins of its temples and monasteries creates an astounding impression of the sublime and ordered life of meditation and spiritual wisdom that prevailed here.
Bodhgaya
Bodhgaya, situated on the bank of river Niranjana, is the holiest site for the followers of Buddhism and it is a place of great historical and religious significance as Lord Buddha reportedly meditated under a pipal tree here and attained enlightenment. The tree is called Bodhi Tree and a descendant of the same tree, still flourishes here and draws a host of pilgrims as also the Mahabodhi Temple that stands testimony to the miracle. Bodhgaya houses an Archaeological Museum and many serene and sublime monasteries built by devotees from many Buddhist countries. The chief attractions of Bodhgaya include an 80 ft Statue of the Buddha, Lotus Tank, Buddha Kund, Rajayatana, Brahm Yoni, Chinese Temple & Monastery, Burmese Temple, Buddhist Monastery of Bhutan, International Buddhist House & Japanese Temple, Thai Temple & Monastery and Tibetan Monastery.

The time-honored Vaishali city finds mention in Ramayana and it is believed that the second Buddhist council took place here. The place has tremendous religious significance as it is here that the Jain prophet Lord Mahavira was born in 527 BC. It is also here that Lord Buddha preached his last sermon and announced his ensuing Nirvana. The other tourist attractions are the Vishwa Shanti Stupa, the Ashoka pillars, and many magnificent Buddhist and Jain structures. Vaishali is an adorable place surrounded by banana, mango, thick groves and rice fields.

Sasaram houses the grand and beautiful mausoleum of Sher Shah, the man known for building the Grand Trunk Road across the whole of North India and the mausoleum is located in a romantic lake and resembles a floating structure. Make sure not to miss Pawapuri, where Lord Mahavira breathed his last around 500 B.C. and was cremated. Today you can see a marble temple, the "Jalmandir", later built in the middle of the tank. Rajgir is a well-known pilgrimage destination for followers of different faiths - Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism alike. The small hill grit town is covered with lush green forest which considerably enhances the beauty of the place. The Swarna Gufa, Griddhakuta Parvat, hot springs, and the Vishwa Shanti Stupa are some of the chief tourist attractions here.
RajgirRajgir just 15 kms from Nalanda is located the complex of temples and monasteries. The place is called Rajgir. It is one of the most important tourist places in India. Being located in a valley, Rajgir is a very scenic place. The small hill grit town is covered with lush green forest which add to the beauty of the place. Rajgir was the capital of the Magadh Mahajanpad (State) when Patliputra was not formed.
Shanti Stupa: The Vishwa Shanti Stup is located on a 400 meter high hill. The stupa is built in marble and on the four corners of the stupa are four glimmering statues of Buddha. To reach the top of this hill one has to come through the “Ropeways”. This place is also called the GriddhKoot.

TOURIST PLACES IN WEST BENGAL
West Bengal's major attractions are the Dutch, French, English and Portuguese styled buildings and historic monuments. The land speaks about the golden era of trade and commerce, a rich culture and a land torn by betrayal, partition, poverty and famine. The historical remains of Malda, British era buildings and monuments of Kolkata, the Nawab's city Murshidabad, or Rabindranath Tagore's Shanti Niketan gives the picture of the glorious past of the state. The Victoria Memorial, Indian Museum, Howrah Bridge in Kolkata, Hazariduar in Murshidabad are some of the most visited sites in the state.
INDIAN MUSEUM The ninth oldest regular museum of the world, INDIAN MUSEUM, Kolkata, INDIA is the oldest institution of its kind in Asia Pacific region and repository of the largest museum objects in India.
A multipurpose and multi disciplinary institution of national importance, the Museum was established at the Asiatic Society, the earliest learned body in the country on 2nd February 1814. Transferred to the present building in 1878 with two galleries, the Museum has now over sixty galleries of Art, Archaeology, Anthropology, Geology, Zoology and Botany sections, spreading over ten thousand square feet area. Many rare specimens both Indian and Trans - Indian origin relating to Humanities and Natural Science are preserved and displayed in the galleries of these sections. The administrative control of the cultural sections, viz Art, Archaeology and Anthropology rests with the Board of Trustees under its Directorate, and that of the three scientific sections is with Geological Survey of India, Zoological Survey of India and Botanical Survey of India.

Howrah BridgeThe Howrah Bridge is a bridge that spans the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. It was originally named the New Howrah Bridge because it links the city of Howrah to its twin city, Kolkata (Calcutta). On 14 June 1965 it was renamed Rabindra Setu, after Rabindranath Tagore a great poet and the first Indian Nobel laureate. However it is still popularly known as the Howrah Bridge.
The bridge is one of the four on the Hooghly River and is a famous symbol of Kolkata and West Bengal. The other bridges are the Vidyasagar Setu (popularly called the Second Hooghly Bridge), the Vivekananda Setu and the newly built engineering marvel Nivedita Setu. Apart from bearing the stormy weather of the Bay of Bengal region, it successfully bears the weight of a daily traffic of approximately 80,000 vehicles [1] and, possibly, more than 1,000,000 pedestrians. It is the sixth longest bridge of its type in the world.[2]

Tourist Places in Jharkhand
The state of Jharkhand, covering a physical area of 79,714 sq.kms was carved out from the state of Bihar in the year 2000 and became the 28th state of the Indian Union. This new found State holds an array of tourist attractions ranging from quaint hills, dense woods, gorgeous waterfalls, serene lakes, pristine mineral springs, exotic wild life sanctuaries and a plethora of pilgrimage centers. Any tourist to India must include a few days’ sojourn in Jharkhand to gain a sense of completion and fulfillment.

When you travel 40 km. away from Ranchi on the Tata Road you will reach the village Taimara wherein flows the Kanchi river, Falling from a lofty height of about 144 feet there is the stupendous Dassam falls amidst with bewitchingly beautiful scenery. The tourists are however warned to be careful while bathing in the stream.

This is an aesthetically developed tourist spot with an artificial garden, complete with water falls and sculptures. The rock garden is spectacular in its appearance, striking a delicate balance between the natural beauty and the creativity of the human mind.

Ranchi Hill
Ranchi Hill situated at an awesome altitude of 2140 feet from sea level, is a much sought-after health and holiday resort as well as a sacred pilgrim center. A panoramic view of the town can be had from the hill top. The Shiva Temple situated on the top of the hill offers a divine spectacle to the host of devotees who throng the temple places during festival seasons.

The name Hazaribagh denotes 'a thousand gardens'. This is well renowned health resort and people flock to the place because of its salubrious climate and romantic scenery all around. Parasnath Temple is situated on a hillock close by, where 23 out of 24 Jain prophets are believed to have attained salvation. Nestling in low hilly terrain, at a moderate altitude of 1800 ft. (615 meters) you find the National Park spread over 183 sq. kms. It has abundant of wild animals like Wild Boar, Sambar, Nilgai, Chital, Sloth Bear, Tiger and Panther.

The River Suwarnarekha cascades down from an awesome altitude of 320 feet and particularly during the monsoons the entire place becomes splendorous. Again, in summer months, this becomes an ideal picnic spot.

About 3 km. from the Ranchi is the historic 300 ft. high Tagore Hill. The hill is linked to the great Tagore family. it is known as Tagore Hill. A number of books are supposed to have been written by Rabindra Nath Tagore, sitting on the top of this hill. At the foot of the hill, there is the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram. This is one place no tourist to Jharkhand should miss.

BASTAR-àDalpat Sagar is the largest artificial lake in Chhattisgarh. It was created over 400 years ago by Raja Dalpat Deo Kakatiya to harvest rain water. Today, it is a major source of fish.
One can shop for tribal handicrafts during Dassera and Diwali at the night Gole Bazar and at the Kumhara Para area. As one drives on National Highway (NH) 16 to the west of Jagdalpur, one can see the Maria Menhirs, monumental stones erected for the dead. It is customary to drop a pinch of chewing tobacco at the foot of the menhir, as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

Chitrakot Waterfall is the largest waterfall in India, linked to the Niagara Falls. About 38 km to the west of Jagdalpur - a one hour drive on an excellent road - this spectacular fall is formed when the river Indravati abruptly collapses into a 100 feet deep cavern. The mouth of the fall, when in full excess, is over 1,000 feet wide.

Tawang Monastery
The Tawang Monastery or Gompa is a 400 year old Buddhist monastery founded by a monk, Mera Lama, a contemporary of the fifth Dalai Lama. The entire monastery is in the nature of a walled city with narrow streets and stone houses wherein over 500 monks dwell. The Tawang Monastery includes an expansive library that is the storehouse of old scriptures, painted tapestries, rare hand written and block-printed manuscripts of religious books and gold lettered Buddhist scriptures. One can gain glimpses of the Tibetan influence here – reflected in the elaborately painted wooden windows and other motifs.

Bomdila is a spectacular town and the capital of West Kameng district. Bomdila, situated at a height of 2,530 meters, offers breathtakingly panoramic views of Himalayan landscapes and the snow clad mountain peaks. Bomdila, is home to luscious apple orchards, wild orchids, verdant forests and cascading waterfalls. This area has had strong Tibetan and Buddhist links over many centuries and is home to many Buddhist monasteries called 'Gumphas'. One other place of interest here is the Ethnographic Museum.

Dzukou Valley
The Dzukou Valley nestling behind the Japfu range and about 30 kms from Kohima is a romantic valley that turns into a garden of exotic flowers in the months of June and September. Rhododendrons, orchids, lilies in pink and white are some rare flowers that will send every nature lover into rapturous delight. Dzukou Valley offers excellent trekking spots and widely known as the trekker's paradise. The gorgeous streams of the valley freezes during the winter months and one will see snow flakes all around.

This is the second highest peak in Nagaland and stands 3048 metres above sea level. The best season for climbing this mountain is from November to March. KEIBUL LAMJAO NATIONAL PARK
The only floating National park in the world, on the Loktak Lake is the last natural habitat of “Sangai” the dancing deer of Manipur. A glimpse of the deer in this unique wetland ecosystem is a must for any wildlife enthusiast. Hog deer, Otter and a host of water fowls and migratory birds can also be sighted during November to March. The Forest Departments maintains watch towers and two rest houses within the park.

Mao is one of the oldest hill stations of Manipur bordering Nagaland located midway between Dimapur and Imphal on the National Highway 39 at an altitude of 5762.02 feet above sea-level. The Mao IB, built by the Royal Military engineers in 1897 is a hundred years old. The cultural mosaic of Manipur is not complete without the colourful Mao-Naga dance.Other places worth visited is Makhel, the historical place of Naga dispersal and the legendary place of common origin of the Meiteis and the Nagas, which has the oldest pear tree memorial of the dispersal. Dzuko Valley with its pristine beauty blooms with a rare lily between May and July. The Regional Potato Farm can be relied upon for a scenic view of the sleep drop to "Ikhro Ikhro" near the Highway; and Mt. Isu for a glimpse of the highest peak in the region. Mao people are known for their warmth and straight-forward honesty.

Pick a picnic basket and head out for Tamdil (Tam Lake). This natural lake is reputed for its fish and prawns and is an 85 km drive from Aizawl. The drive gives you an excellent opportunity to see some of the prettiest areas of Mizoram. Go for boat rides, relax by the tranquil waters and if you can bestir yourself, take a drive into the nearby jungles, which are home to an assortment of fascinating flora and fauna. You can also stay here overnight. The resort village of Saituai is just 10 km away.

Charminar, Hyderabad The Charminar is the one of the biggest tourist attractions in Andhra Pradesh. The legend says Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah, the founder of the city built this magnificent square shaped edifice to ward of ward off the break out of an epidemic at the center of the original city in his time. Four 48.7metre high minarets built of Granite flanking four grand arches explains the name Char (four) minar. A lotus leaf structure, which was a special recurrent motif in Qutub Shahi buildings, supports the base of each minar.The arches support two floors and gallery of archways. The first floor housed a madarasa (college) during the Qutub Shahi period. The second floor houses a mosque on the western side.

It requires a special permission from the Archaeological Survey of India to go to the top of the minarets, which offers a spectacular view of the city. The monument is open all the days.
Golconda Fort, Hyderabad It is one of the famous forts of India and derives its name from the Telugu words "Golla Konda" meaning "Shepherd's Hill". Golconda was originally a mud fort and the origin dates back to the Kakatiya period. Later in course of history it passed to the Qutb Shahis (1518 to 1687 A.D). First three Qutb Shahi kings rebuilt Golconda, over a span of 62 years. The fort is famous for its acoustics, palaces, factories, ingenious water supply system and the famous Fateh Rahben gun, one of the cannons used in the last siege of Golconda by Aurangzeb, to whom the fort ultimately fell. An evening light and sound show brings alive the history of the Golconda Fort.

Qutb Shahi Tombs, Hyderabad The tombs of the Qutb Shahi kings are the oldest historical monuments in Hyderabad. The uniqueness lies in the fact that this is a graveyard where an entire dynasty has been buried at one place.
