NAMMA METRO

Namma Metro was inaugurated on 20th October 2011 for the city of Bengaluru , Karnataka, India.

The metro is expected to reduce the traffic volume in areas like Majestic (Kempegowda Bus station and Bangalore Railway Station), Sampige Road, Hudson Circle and M.G. Road.

The project has costed  more than (US$1.2 billion).

INFRASTRUCTURE:

The capacity of per train is about 1000.

The trains are air-conditioned throughout with facilities for the disables.

The maximum attainable speed will be 80km/hr.

FARES:

The minimum fare is Rs10 and maximum fare of  Rs 15 for reach -1.

Smart cards

Namma Metro uses contact less smart cards. There are 4 types of smart cards available on the metro – Varshik, Sanchar, Saral and Saraag.

• Varshik – Priced at  Rs100 and the smart card can then be recharged from  Rs50 to up to Rs1,500. It has a one-year validity, with a 15% discount on travel fares.
• Sanchar – It is based on number of trips. It is available in denominations of Rs10, Rs40, Rs50 and Rs100.
• Saral – Priced at Rs70. It allows a day's travel in non-A/C buses of BMTC and the metro.
• Saraag – Priced at Rs110. It allows a day's travel in BMTC A/C buses and the metro.
