RED FORT

RED FORT

  •      It is a seventeenth century complex constructed by Mughal Emperor Shajahan in the world city of old Delhi.
  •      It served as the capital of Mughals until 1857 when Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah was exiled by the British Indian government.
  •      It was designated a UNESCO World Heriatge site in 2007.

HUMANYUN'S TOMB

  •    The tomb was designed by a Persian architect  named Mirak Mirza Ghiyas.
  •     The structure was constructed in 1562 and completed in 1565.

  •      It was founded in 1919.
  •      The Parliament is the supreme legislative body in India.

  •      Jama Masjid is the principal mosque of Old Delhi in India.
  •     It is considered to be the largest mosque in India.

  •      It was built by emperor Shah Jahan, the builder of Taj Mahal and completed in the year 1628 A.D.

  •  It is the world's tallest brick minaret with a height of 72.5 meters (237.8 ft).
  •  It was constructed by Qutb-ud-din Aibak , The Qutub Minar is an example of one of the earliestf Indo-Islamic architecture. Being surrounded by several other ancient and medieval structures and ruins, collectively known as Qutub complex.

  • It is the national monument of India. 

  •  India Gate was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.
  •  It is a prominent landmark in Delhi and commemorates the 90,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who lost their lives while fighting for the British Indian Empire, or more correctly the British Raj in World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. It is composed of red sand stone and granite.
  •  After India's independence, India Gate became the site of the Indian Army's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, known as the Amar Jawan Jyoti (The flame of the immortal soldier).


RASTRAPATI  BHAWAN
  •  It is the Official Residence of the Head of the State is the official residence of the President of India,

  •  Beforel 1950 it was known as "Viceroy's House" and served as the residence of the Viceroy and Governor-General of India.
  • At present, it is the largest residence of any Chief of the State in the world.
  •  The construction of the building was planned for 4 years, but World War I intervened and construction required 19 years to complete.


JANTAR MANTAR
  •  It consists of 13 architectural astronomy instruments, built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur, from 1724 onwards,

  •  There is plaque fixed on one of the structures in the Jantar Mantar observatory in New Delhi that was placed there in 1910 mistakenly dating the construction of the complex to the year 1710. Later research, though, suggests 1724 as the actual year of construction.
  • The primary purpose of the observatory was to compile astronomical tables, and to predict the times and movements of the sun, moon and planets. Some of these purposes nowadays would be classified as astrology.

    AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE
  • Akshardham is a Hindu temple complex in Delhi, India.
  •  The complex displays millennia of traditional Indian and Hindu culture, spirituality, and architecture.
  • The temple, which attracts approximately 70 percent of all tourists who visit Delhi, was officially opened on 6 November 2005.

  • It is known as the Lotus Temple due to its flowerlike shape.

  • It was completed in 1986 and serves as the Mother Temple of the Indian subcontinent. It has won numerous architectural awards and been featured in hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles.
RAJGHAT
    RAJGHAT
  • Raj Ghat, the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi is one of the most visited sites in Delhi.

  • It consists of a simple square black-marble platform that stands on the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.
  • Nearby, there are cremation sites of Jawaharlal Nehru - the first Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
